The team heads into day two in 8th place
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Mizzou Women's Golf produced solid performances across the board to land three Tigers in the Top-25 at the end of day one of the Florida State hosted Match-Up on Friday afternoon. The team sits in 8th place through the first 18 holes on the Par-72 course. Veteran Jess Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) led the squad with senior Noelle Beijer (Assendelft, The Netherlands) and freshman Emily Staples (Orlando, Fla.) following closely behind.
"We had a really strong start & took advantage of some short approach shots on the front side," said head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer. "It's been a few weeks since we've been outside on grass, so we are seeing progress each day."
Yuen started her final spring season off strong carding her second-lowest score of the year, 1-over 73, anchored by four birdies. She heads into day two sitting at T-12.
Beijer trailed right behind posting a 2-over 74 after sinking three birdies in her final five holes to tally a team-high of five on the day and ending at T-17.
Putting on a show in her home state, Staples launched into the round firing back-to-back birdies, posting a 3-over 75 to tie her season-low round score. She currently sits at T-22.
Redshirt junior Julia Bower (Columbia, Mo.) shot a 9-over 81 to sit at T-60, while freshman Martina Munoz (Valencia, Spain) posted a 10-over 82 in her career debut to close the day at T63. Both secured a pair of birdies.
