FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 25 Mizzou gymnasts team tied its second-highest road score in school history and had season-best totals on three events and overall team score in a 197.350-196.850 loss to No. 5 Arkansas on Friday night in Fayetteville, Ark.
Mizzou's 196.850 obliterated the team's previous season-high of 196.175 set a week ago, and tied both the second-highest road score in school history and the program's ninth-best team total ever. The team also had season-bests on beam (49.400), vault (49.250) and bars (49.200), and tallied the third-highest beam total in program history.
Sophomore Sienna Schreiber (Cumming, Ga.) and freshman Amaya Marshall (Kannapolis, N.C.) tied for individual event titles, as Schreiber had a career-best 9.95 on beam and Marshall had a personal-high 9.875 on bars. Additionally, both Schreiber and Marshall notched the highest all-around totals of their Tiger careers, with a 39.500 for Schreiber and a 39.250 for Marshall.

Mizzou started strong with a 49.200 on bars in the first rotation. Four Tigers set or tied career-bests on the event, led by Marshall's winning 9.875. Also with bests were sophomore Hollyn Patrick (Lafayette, Colo.) with a 9.85, freshman Jena Swanson (Glendive, Mont.) with a 9.825, and sophomore Adalayna Hufendiek (Columbia, Mo.), who matched her high with a 9.75. Additionally, Schreiber went 9.85 and junior Alisa Sheremeta (Circleville, N.Y.) posted a 9.8.
Five Tigers scored at least a 9.8 in the second rotation on vault to propel the squad to a season-best 49.250 on the event. Patrick also matched her career-best with a 9.825, while Schreiber added a 9.825 and Marshall went 9.800.
Schreiber continued her strong night with a team-best 9.875 on floor from the second spot in the lineup, and Sheremeta claimed a 9.85 for her fifth score of 9.8 or better in floor in five tries this season. Gottula and Marshall added 9.775s as the Tigers went 49.000 as a team.
Mizzou closed the night with an exclamation mark, totaling 49.400 on beam, the third-best score on the event in program history. Schreiber erupted for a career-best 9.95 to become just the seventh Tiger in program history to ever reach that mark on beam, only one week after Sheremeta became the sixth. Schreiber's 9.95 led the way, followed by a season-best 9.9 from Gottula, a 9.875 from Sheremeta and a career-high-tying 9.85 from McCrary. QUOTABLES
Mizzou Head Coach Shannon Welker
"I thought we did a good job tonight. We're definitely continuing to move in the right direction. We started off really strong on bars and stuck a lot of dismounts, which was something we had focused on. We carried that momentum over to vault, where we had one of our best rotations. On floor, it wasn't our strongest rotation but there were a lot of highlights. We made a change in Sienna's (Schreiber) floor routine from last week and she did a really nice job with that. After floor we huddled up and said no meet is going to be perfect but we can still finish strong. And we put together our season high on beam and stuck four out of six dismounts. You have to be able to grind it out and finish strong on the last event, because that's what allows you to go deep into the postseason.
"Individually, Alisa Sheremeta had another strong weekend. She's been solid for us and I'm excited to see what she can do the rest of the season. Amaya had another good meet in the all-around, and Sienna did a great job with a 39.500 all-around."
