COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women's basketball (10-2) picked up its 10th victory of the season in a 73-54 win over Southern (2-9). Mizzou surpasses its win total from each of the last two seasons.
Hayley Frank led the way for the Tigers with 21 points and six rebounds. Aijha Blackwell added her eighth double double of the season and the 28th of her career with 15 points and 12 boards.
TURNING POINT
The Tigers took a nine-point lead into the first quarter break thanks to a 13-0 run over the final three minutes. LaDazhia Williams keyed the run and put up 10 points in the first half on 4-of-4 shooting.
Mizzou led by as many as 26 in the fourth quarter. Hayley Frank scored eight points in the first five minutes of the final period to put the game away.
NOTES
Hayley Frank went 7-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc to finish with 21 points. Monday night marked the third time this season Frank scored over 20 points.
LaDazhia Williams hit her first four shots from the floor. She finished with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting.
Aijha Blackwell produced her eighth double-double of the season and the 28th of her career with a 15-point, 12-rebound night.
All eight of Blackwell's double-doubles this season have featured at least 15 points.
Haley Troup finished with five assists. It's the fifth time this season with five or more helpers for the redshirt senior.
Mizzou held Southern to just .308 (21-of-68) shooting from the floor. It marks the lowest shooting percentage for an opponent this season.
The Tigers iced the game with a 17-4 run spanning the end of the third and beginning of the fourth quarter to expand their lead from 11 to 24.
With 14 assists as a team, Mizzou finished with double-digit helpers for the 11th time in 12 games this season.
Mizzou is now 2-0 all-time against Southern and 17-1 against members of the SWAC.
