COLUMBIA, Mo. – A shorthanded Mizzou (4-8, 0-5 SEC) side fell in a hard-fought match to Georgia (9-3-1, 2-2-1 SEC). The Bulldogs led 25-4 in shots, but McKenna Sheehan held her ground with seven saves on the night.

The Tigers were able to get a few shots early in the match. Julissa Cisneros fired a left-footed shot from outside of the box that tested the Georgia keeper, but she was able to make the save.

Georgia was then able to pepper the Mizzou goal with shot after shot.

TURNING POINT

Georgia was able to break through in the 35^th minute after a corner was played into the box and after the ball bounced around the box, Ponzi was able to settle it after Hart played it over and she put the Bulldogs on top. The ball was nearly cleared by McCormick, but it was ruled to be just across the line.

That was all that Georgia would need. Missouri's was only able to put pressure on the Georgia keeper late with a Jenna McCormick left-footed strike from distance that was cleaned up.

TOP TIGERS

McKenna Sheehan had her best performance of the season for the Tigers. She came up with a career-high seven saves and faced 25 shots from the Bulldog attack that includes one of the nation's leading scorers.

Jenna McCormick had a strong effort for the Tigers. Her shot from distance tested the keeper and she contributed to many Mizzou buildups.

Blythe Beldner participated in both the Mizzou attack and defense, moving back-and-forth between the wing and outside back.

NOTES

Kyla Johnson played a career-high 30 minutes in the match.

Skye Kingsley returned from a four-match absence and played 37 minutes.

The Tigers will travel to Gainesville, Florida to face the Gators on Sunday. The match will air at noon on Sunday.
