The Mizzou alum makes his fourth podium appearance at the event
COLUMBIA, Mo. — For the fourth time in his professional career, J'den Cox will climb the podium at the United World Wrestling World Championships. The Columbia native and Mizzou alum (2014-17) took home the bronze medal Monday in the 92 kg weight class at the event in Oslo, Norway.
Cox dominated his way through his first three bouts, winning by technical fall in each with a combined score of 33-2. In the semifinal match, he fell just short of winning. With time expiring, Cox went for a final takedown but the clock hit zero as he went. While the match finished 3-3, his opponent won on criteria after Cox fled the mat to get out of hold.
Coming back in the bronze medal match, Cox dominated once again, winning by technical fall, 11-0.
The win gives Cox his second bronze medal at the World Championships. He also won gold at the 2018 and 2019 World Championships and a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics in between his junior and senior seasons as a Tiger.
