COLUMBIA, Mo. – Sophomore Sienna Schreiber (Cumming, Ga.) and freshman Amaya Marshall (Kannapolis, N.C.) of the Mizzou gymnastics team both claimed All-Southeastern Conference honors, the league announced on Wednesday. Schreiber earned a spot on the All-SEC team, while Marshall was named to the All-Freshman team.
The All-SEC team is comprised of student-athletes with the top two scores (including ties) on each event and in the all-around in the first and second sessions of the SEC Championship. The All-Freshman team is composed of freshman student-athlete with the top score (including ties) in each session of the Championship, as well as the top two freshman all-around finishers from each session.
Schreiber nabbed a spot on the All-SEC team after notching a 9.925 on beam at last week's SEC Championship, which was the top score on the event in the afternoon session of the Championship.
Over the course of the season, Schreiber won a team-best eight event titles, with four on beam, three on bars and one in the all-around. She currently ranks tied for 13th nationally on beam with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.938. Overall, she totaled eight scores of 9.85 or higher and five scores of 9.9 or better on beam in nine meets this year, including a career-best 9.975 at LSU in the regular season finale.
In addition to her beam NQS, Schreiber also carries NQSs of 9.875 on bars, 9.825 on vault and floor and 39.388 in the all-around, 9.9 on bars, 9.875 on floor, 9.85 on vault and 39.500 in the all-around.
Marshall claimed All-Freshman team honors on bars and in the all-around based upon her performance at SECs, with scores of 9.825 on bars and 39.075 in the all-around. During her freshman campaign, she earned spots in the vault, bars and floor lineups in all nine meets and was in the beam lineup seven times, including the last six competitions.
She won two event titles on the season, the all-around crown against Auburn and the bars title at Arkansas, and was named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week on Feb. 16. Marshall owns NQSs of 9.856 on floor, 9.844 on bars, 9.838 on beam, 9.806 on vault and 39.231 in the all-around, with career-high tallies of 9.9 on beam, 9.875 on floor and bars, 9.825 on vault and 39.3 in the all-around.
Schreiber, Marshall and the No. 23 Mizzou gymnastics team will compete in the second session of the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional Second Round on Friday, April 2 at 7 p.m. CT in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
