No. 10 Mizzou Wrestling Hosts No. 21 Central Michigan and Wyoming Friday in Home Opener

No. 10 Mizzou Wrestling makes its 2021 home debut this Friday (Jan. 8) with a tri-dual against No. 21 Central Michigan and Wyoming. The Tigers, Chippewas and Cowboys will conduct a round-robin inside the Hearnes Center with action kicking off at 3 p.m. CT.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 10 Mizzou Wrestling makes its 2021 home debut this Friday (Jan. 8) with a tri-dual against No. 21 Central Michigan and Wyoming. The Tigers, Chippewas and Cowboys will conduct a round-robin inside the Hearnes Center with action kicking off at 3 p.m. CT.

Mizzou and Central Michigan open Friday with a Mid-American Conference contest, followed by the Chippewas and Wyoming meeting at 5 p.m. CT. The Tigers and Cowboys close out the evening at 7 p.m. CT.

  • Before last year's meeting, the two programs hadn't squared off since the 2002-03 campaign. The Tigers earned a 39-0 shutout victory over the Cowboys in Mid-Missouri.

  • Following a dominant season-opening trip to the North Dakota State Quadrangular (Jan. 3), where Mizzou outscored its three opponents, 114-12, the Tigers climbed two spots to No. 10 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division I Coaches Poll.
  • Mizzou's perfect 3-0 record on the young 2021 season stands as the most wins from any program currently ranked in the NWCA Top-25 poll.
  • On Wednesday (Jan. 6), Mizzou 141-pound redshirt junior Allan Hart was named MAC Wrestler of the Week. The Akron, Ohio, native was fantastic last Sunday in Fargo, tallying victories over No. 23 Clay Carlson (South Dakota State) and No. 16 Grant Willits (Oregon State). Hart posted bonus point wins in each bout, securing a 14-4 major decision over Carlson and pinning Willits in only 36 seconds.
  • At the North Dakota State Quadrangular, Mizzou tallied an impressive 10 triumphs over nationally ranked opponents, highlighted by a 12-0 major decision victory over No. 7 Devan Turner by redshirt junior Matt Schmitt.
  • Junior Brock Mauller, redshirt sophomore Peyton Mocco, redshirt freshman Sean Harman, redshirt sophomore Jeremiah Kent and redshirt sophomore Zach Elam all produced an unscathed 3-0 record in last Sunday's duals.
