
Tiger Style Names Annual Team Award Winners

Mauller is the program’s Most Outstanding Wrestler, Flynn takes home the Ed Lampitt Total Tiger Award
COLUMBIA, Mo. – In lieu of its normal year-end banquet which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mizzou Wrestling has honored its annual team award winners on social media over the last several days. In all, the program handed out nine awards to recognize some of the program's top contributors throughout the course of the 2019-20 season, a season during which Mizzou claimed its ninth straight conference title while qualifying nine wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.
Two of the program's most-sought after awards went to two of the Tigers' best performers all season. Senior Connor Flynn (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.) took home the Ed Lampitt Total Tiger Award while sophomore Brock Mauller (Columbia, Mo.) was named the program's Most Outstanding Wrestler. Both Mauller and Flynn, along with RS freshman Peyton Mocco (West Allis, Wis.) earned multiple awards at the banquet. The complete listing of the awards is below:
Tiger Style Most Falls Award
Cameron Valdiviez
- 9 pins in 2019-20
- 20-12 record
- 16 wins were bonus point wins
Tiger Style Athletic Performance Award
Connor Flynn
- This award recognizes a student-athlete's dedication to strength training and conditioning
- "During Connor's career his work ethic set the standard for his teammates to pursue. He executed each day, each practice, and each rep with maximum effort. Connor's elite combination of speed and strength is unmatched by many. Through his hard work, faith, and discipline Connor earned success both on and off the mat." – Strength coach Mike Larson
Tiger Style Ironman Award
Brock Mauller
- This award recognizes a student-athlete who missed the least amount of competition and practice time
Marshall Esteppe Most Outstanding Freshman
Peyton Mocco
- NCAA Qualifier at 165 Pounds (first career berth) - #30 National Seed
- Third Place Finish at the MAC Championships
- 27-12 Overall Record
- Second on Team in Wins (27)
- Fourth on Team in Falls (six)
- NWCA Academic Honoree
Tiger Style Most Improved Wrestler
Allan Hart
- 2020 MAC Runner-Up at 133 Pounds
- NCAA Qualifier for the first time in his career (#19 National Seed)
- Finished his season winning 10 of his final 12 bouts – only two losses came to the eventual MAC Champion Tim Rooney
- Finished the season 20-9 overall with 13 of his 19 wins going for bonus points
Mizzou Made Academic Excellence Award
Peyton Mocco
- NWCA Academic Honoree
- 3.955 grade-point-average
- Industrial Engineering Major
- 2019-2020 MAC Commissioner's Award
- 2019-2020 MAC Academic Honor Roll
- 2018-2019 SEC Academic Honor Roll
Hap Whitney Coaches Award
Chosen by the Wrestling Staff for the young man who leads by example and lives Tiger Style.
Jacob Bohlken
- Entered the season as the fourth-string HWT and became the full-time starter
- Eighth-place finish at the MAC Championships despite being unseeded headed into the event
- Owns a 3.6 cumulative GPA in biochemistry and is headed to medical school
- SAAC Rep for the team and the Tiger Leader Institute
- All-Academic MAC and SEC Honor Roll
- Led the team in community service
Ed Lampitt Total Tiger Award
On the mat, in the classroom and in life.
Connor Flynn
- NWCA Academic Honoree
- 3.4 Grade Point Average and is pursuing his MBA
- Team Captain
- Went 22-8 during his senior season
- Qualified for the NCAA Championships in each of his last three seasons
- Finished his career with 82 career wins, 19 major decisions, 18 technical falls and two falls
Tiger Style Most Outstanding Wrestler
Brock Mauller
- 28-1 overall record
- Back-to-Back MAC Champion at 149 pounds
- Qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive year
- Now 60-6 over his two-year career
- Led the team in wins (28), major decisions (six)
- .966 win percentage is the seventh-best in school history
