
Mizzou Gymnastics Adds Swanson, Newson to Signing Class

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou gymnastics head coach Shannon Welker announced the addition of Jena Swanson (Glendive, Montana) and Kalise Newson (Golden, Colorado) to the Tigers' signing class. The duo join November signees Kyra Burns and Amaya Marshall as members of Mizzou's 2021 freshman class.
JENA SWANSON
Hometown: Glendive, Mont.
Parents: Scott and Lisa
High School: Spearfish (S.D.)
Club: Spearfish Gymnastics Academy (S.D.)
Club Coaches: Phil Summers and Lexi Carthcart
- Placed fourth on floor at 2018 J.O. Nationals
- Four-time South Dakota Level 10 all-around champion
- 2018 Region 4 vault champion
- Owns career-best scores of 9.675 on vault, 9.575 on floor, 9.55 on bars, 9.45 on beam and 38.0 in the all-around

KALISE NEWSON
Hometown: Golden, Colo.
Parents: Roderick and Sherri
High School: Pomona
Club: TIGAR
Club Coach: Marcelo Tallandre
- Two-time J.O. Nationals qualifier
- Won the 2019 Region 3 Beam title
- First on vault and second on floor and in the all-around at the 2017 Colorado State Championships
- Has career-best scores of 9.7 on vault, 9.625 on bars, 9.6 on beam and 9.475 on floor
