Mizzou Tennis Beats Bradley, Falls to Old Dominion in Doubleheader

Mizzou now 6-2 on the season
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Tennis spilt a doubleheader on Sunday, as the Tigers fell to Old Dominion, 4-0, in the morning before defeating Bradley, 4-0, in the afternoon. With the 1-1 split, Mizzou improves to 6-2 on the season.
MATCH 1
Old Dominion won the first match of the day, 4-0, following wins on court two and three in doubles play and on courts two, three and four in singles competition. Unfortunately, Mizzou's doubles team of senior Serena Nash (Bradford, England) and senior Gabrielle Goldin (Bradenton, Fla.) were unable to finish their upset bid of No. 10 Yulia Starodubtseva and Alesya Yakubovich, as the Tigers were leading 5-3 and were at match point when doubles play was halted.
In singles play, Nash once again was cut short on an upset bid, as she led 3-2 in the third set against No. 33 Holly Hutchinson when the matched was clinched by Old Dominion.
MATCH 2
Mizzou bounced back in a big way in the afternoon match, as the Tigers posted wins in the No. 1 and 3 positions in doubles play to clinch the doubles point. Nash and Goldin defeated Sandra Maletin and Natalia Barbery, 6-0, while sophomore Lisa Fukutoku (Tokyo, Japan) and freshman Elys Ventura (Aukland, New Zealand) defeated V Sanchex Bronzetti and Nina Marjanovic, 6-1.
Mizzou earned wins at the No. 2, 3 and 4 positions in singles play to clinch its sixth win of the season, as junior Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.), sophomore Vivien Ábrahám and Fukutoku earned wins. Wright won in three sets over Bozana Lojpur, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, while Ábrahám won in straight sets over Natalia Barbery, 6-4, 7-5 and Fukuotku won 6-3, 6-3 over V Sanchez Bronzetti.

Next, Mizzou will host Southeast Missouri State for a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. CT and 3 p.m. CT.
