COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Track and Field is set to host the Mizzou Open on Friday, Feb. 7 at the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse in Columbia, Missouri. The action gets underway at 10:30 a.m. CT with the men's weight throw and track events begin at 12:30 p.m.
The Black and Gold are back in action after a successful two days at the Razorback Invitational where Tigers posted four new school top-10 marks including a new school record. Redshirt sophomore Jayson Ashford (Fairview Heights, Ill.) will hit the track on Friday after posting the eighth-fastest 400m time in program history last Saturday in Fayetteville. He will compete in the 60m dash, 200m dash and the 4x400m relay on Friday at the Hearnes Center.
Freshman sprinters Blake Hays (Monroe, Mo.) and Jacob Brunsman (Fenton, Mo.) had success at the Razorback Invitational last weekend. The pair both recorded personal records in both the 200m and 400m in Fayetteville, Ark. and will be competing in the 200m and the 4x400m on Friday.
After winning her first three competitions this season in the women's weight throw, redshirt junior Jordan McClendon (Black Jack, Mo.) finished second at the Razorback Invitational. McClendon, who owns the second best weight throw mark in Tigers history, will be in action along with redshirt sophomore Sydney Oberdiek (Platte City, Mo.). Oberdiek posted a mark of 18.75m (61-6.25) at the Aggie Invitational on January 25, setting a personal best and moving into tenth place in program history.
The Mizzou women's triple jump pair of Arianna Fisher and Euphenie Andre will both jump on Friday after recording impressive marks at the Aggie Invitational in College Station, Texas. Fisher moved into third place all-time in program history while Andre earned the fifth-overall spot in the program record books. Their marks of 12.80m (42-0) and 12.55m (41-2.25), respectively, were personal bests.
