Tigers defeat Wichita State, 7-3, and Nebraska, 7-1
COLUMBIA, Mo - Mizzou Softball got back in the win column at home on Saturday, using six-run innings in each game to top the Wichita State Shockers and the Nebraska Huskers in the opening day of the Mizzou Tournament.
The Tigers (14-5) used an offensive explosion in the fourth inning to separate from the Shockers (7-10) and cruise to a 7-3 victory.
In the following game against Nebraska (6-9), the Tigers were led by clutch pitching and stout, heads up defense, including throwing out two Nebraska runners at the plate. Mizzou was heads up on the base paths as well, scoring the first run of the game when Brooke Wilmes raced home on a wild pitch and scoring the eventual winning run on the speed of sophomore Emma Raabe scoring all the way from first on a double. After a close battle all afternoon, the Tigers posted six runs in the bottom of the sixth to come away with the 7-1 victory.
