Mizzou Baseball Walks Off No. 22 Oklahoma, 8-7, in Extra Innings Thriller

Tigers erase 5-0 deficit in the fifth inning, earn first ranked victory this season

HOUSTON, Texas – Mizzou Baseball (5-5) moved back to .500 in a big way Saturday, producing a thrilling 8-7 victory over No. 22 Oklahoma in 10 innings. The Tigers trailed 5-0 in the fifth inning and slowly chipped away to eventually even the score at seven apiece in the eighth inning.

Senior Peter Zimmermann was this afternoon's hero, ripping a walk-off RBI ground-rule double in the bottom of the 10th inning. Redshirt Freshman Luke Mann produced a clutch game-tying RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to setup the eventual walk-off Tigers triumph.

Senior Lukas Veinbergs and junior Trey Dillard recorded four consecutive scoreless innings to end the ballgame, halting the Sooners' offense from the seventh inning on.

Coach Bieser Postgame Soundbites

On Saturday's comeback victory over No. 22 Oklahoma…

"It was definitely an exciting afternoon. To see us play together as a team and pull this one out was big. We got off to a slow start and some bad things happened, but we knew we couldn't fold under pressure. We stayed with it today and did some good things."

On the bullpen's key performances this afternoon…

"Lukas (Veinbergs) had one bad pitch on the home run, but he was the guy we needed today to get us to the point later in the game to win. He gave our offense continued chances to score. Then Trey (Dillard) came in the 10th and slammed the door to setup the walk-off."
