Tigers receive quality pitching Friday, but offense struggles to produce
HOUSTON, Texas – Mizzou Baseball (4-5) fell 4-2 Friday afternoon to Baylor in its Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic opener. The contest was tied at two apiece after five innings, but a pair of solo home runs by the Bears' five-hole hitter in the sixth and eighth innings proved to be the difference.
Junior Ian Bedell delivered a quality start this afternoon for the Tigers, allowing three runs (one earned) over 6.1 innings of work. At the plate, junior Mark Vierling recorded his fourth multi-hit game this year. The St. Louis, Missouri, native has tallied six total hits over his past two games played.

Coach Bieser Postgame Soundbites
On Friday's matchup against Baylor…
"We gave this game away. Defensively, we didn't get it done. Offensively, we didn't get it done when given opportunities with runners in scoring position. We just have to keep grinding things out. We have to get better. We're leaving runs on the field."
On Bedell's solid starting pitching outing…
"He had a solid start today. He had a couple pitches where he didn't really bury his breaking ball. Execute there and he could've gone a little deeper in the game. Whenever we get a start like that from a pitcher, you have to be able to score some runs behind him."
