Steelman Claims T-13 Finish as Mizzou Men's Golf Battles Competitive Field at Blessings Collegiate Invitational

It marked the sixth consecutive Top 25 finish for Steelman
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's Golf finished its first tournament of the fall season, the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Wednesday. Redshirt sophomore Ross Steelman claimed a T-13 finish individually to lead the Tigers. Steelman shot a 2-over par 218, anchored by a 2-under 70 on day two. It marks the sixth straight Top-25 finish for Steelman and the seventh in his first eight career tournaments.
The Tigers finished 13th among a field that featured all 14 Southeastern Conference schools. Mizzou finished 40-over par with a 904 (311-292-301) for the week.
Steelman's 2-over par 218 (76-70-72) paced the Tigers. He shot up the leaderboard more than 25 spots after round one. After recording his 10th career round under-par on the second day, Steelman battled to post an even-par round on day three, highlighted by an eagle on the 15th hole.
Senior Jack Parker (Columbia, Mo.) posted an 11-over par 227 (78-72-77). Parker carded an even-par 72 in the second round and finished T-43. He's placed in the Top 50 in seven of his last eight tournaments.
Fifth year returnee Rory Franssen (Inverness, Scotland) secured a tie for 47th with a 228 (12-over par). He finished the tournament strong, recording his lowest round of the tournament with a 2-over 74 on Wednesday.
Making his fourth career start, sophomore Yu-Ta Tsai (Taipei, Taiwan) rebounded from a 7-over 79 in the first round to card a 74 in the second round which included four birdies. It marked the fifth round of 74 or better in his young career. He claimed a tie for 55th, carding a total score of 231 (15-over par).
Walker Kesterson (Ashland, Mo.) made his Tiger debut this week, finishing in 70th with a 244 (28-over par). He rounded out the tournament with his best round of the event, posting a 79.
The Tigers return to action on Oct. 25-27 in Nashville, Tenn., at the Legends Collegiate Invitational.
