COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's Golf carded a 6-under par 846 and placed 12th at the all-SEC Legends Collegiate Invitational in Nashville, as the Tigers fired an even-par 284 at the Par 71 course in Tuesday's final round. Redshirt sophomore Ross Steelman led the squad throughout the week, finishing T-11 while senior Jack Parker's 3-under 68 highlighted Mizzou's final 18 holes. Mizzou's 846 was the lowest 54-hole team score since firing an 845 at the Tiger Invitational on April 9, 2019.
Steelman launched the tournament in style with a historic 7-under 64, tying the eighth-best round in program history. After a 1-over 72 on Monday, he bounced back in the third round to sink five birdies and finish 2-under 69 for the round on Tuesday. Steelman's 8-under par 205 score for the tournament marks just the 21st individual tournament of 205 or better by a Tiger in program history.
Steelman's 205 is a new career-low tournament score for the Columbia native. He has finished T-13 and T-11 in Mizzou's first two tournaments this season, both facing fields of only SEC teams. Steelman has finished Top-25 in seven consecutive tournaments since winning the Prairie Club Invite last season.
Sophomore Yu-Ta Tsai finished T-40 with a career-low even-par 213 for the tournament, besting his previous career low by 12 strokes. Tsai's T-40 finish marks a new career best as he sandwiched a career-low 69 on Monday with a pair of 72s in the first and third rounds, respectively.
Columbia native Jack Parker bounced back from a 76 on Sunday with a 70 on Monday and a career-low-tying round of 68 on Tuesday. Parker placed T-46, skyrocketing up 21 spots on the leaderboard over the final two rounds. Parker's 1-over par 214 marks the third-lowest 54-hole score of his career.
Senior Rory Franssen fired a career-low-tying 67 on Monday to highlight his week. He finished T-59 with a 3-over par 216. Junior Tommy Boone placed 67th with a 9-over par 222, the third-lowest 54-hole score of his career.
Mizzou is back in action for its final tournament of the fall campaign at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala., from Nov. 9-10. The Tigers will once again take on a field entirely comprised of SEC opponents.
