The Tigers tee off the tournament on Sunday in Nebraska
VALENTINE, Neb. – Mizzou Men's Golf is headed to Valentine, Neb., for the Prairie Club Invitational- the team's third tournament of the season. The Tigers will play 36 holes at the Prairie Club (Par-73, 7369 yards) on Sunday, Sep. 29 followed by an 18-hole final round on Monday, Sep. 30.
The Tigers will face off against six teams: Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Sam Houston State, South Alabama, South Dakota State and Central Florida.
This will be the fifth consecutive year that Mizzou competes in the Prairie Club Invitational- formerly known as the Jackrabbit Invitational. The Tigers' best finish came in 2016, when they placed second out of 12 teams. Senior Rory Franssen (Inverness, Scotland) thrived as a freshman at the Jackrabbit- posting a score of 3-under that earned him the first Top-10 finish of his young career.
Franssen will headline the Mizzou lineup for head coach Mark Leroux. The second round at the Prairie Club Invitational will be particularly significant for Franssen. It will be his 100th career round as a Missouri Tiger. He will hope to build on his early-season success on Sunday.
Filling the second slot for the Tigers is freshman Viktor Einarsson (Reykjavik, Iceland). Einarsson made his first career start last week in the Inverness Intercollegiate and impressed with a three-day score of 222 that was good for second-best on the Mizzou team and tied for 35th overall.
Starting in the third spot for the second straight week is junior Jack Parker (Columbia, Mo.). He will make his return to the Prairie Club, his first appearance there since 2017. As a freshman, Parker placed 58th in the Jackrabbit Invitational. Parker looks to build on his final round in Toledo- a 1-over 72 that vaulted him into 45th for the Inverness Intercollegiate.
Like Franssen and Parker, senior Ricky Sanders (The Hague, Netherlands) is returning to the Prairie Club. Last year, he carded a 4-over 220 that tied him for 20th. He will attempt to use his experience this week as the four-man for Mizzou.
Rounding out the Mizzou lineup is freshman Ross Steelman (Columbia, Mo.). Steelman's young career was highlighted by two rounds under par at the Turning Stone- Tiger Intercollegiate.
