LOOKING AT THE OPPONENT . . . CINCINNATI |
- The Bearcats split their opening weekend of the season, winning 2-0 against St. John's before falling to No. 25 Virginia Tech.
- Sophomore Vanessa DiNardo owns both of Cincinnati's goals this season — getting three shots on goal. She has already doubled her goal output from a season ago.
- In goal, redshirt junior Madison Less has notched 12 saves on the year, 10 of which came on Sunday against Virginia Tech.
- As a team, the Bearcats have gotten 45.5-percent of their shots on goal, and have gotten five shots on goal.
LOOKING AT THE OPPONENT . . . XAVIER |
- Xavier owns a 2-0-0 record on the season, getting a 4-3, double-overtime victory over Murray State (Aug. 22) and a 2-1 win over Bowling Green on Sunday.
- Sunday's match will feature a match-up between two of the NCAAs top goal scorers this season. Xavier redshirt senior Samantha Dewey is one of 10 players in the country with 4+ goals on the season, and 8-of-her-10 shots this season have been on goal.
- Gabrielle LoPresti and Jackie Richards have both also scored a goal for the Musketeers this season.
- Xavier has split time between Olivia Jenkins and Toni Bizzarro this season. Bizzarro played all 199:03 minutes in goal in the double-overtime victory over Murray State.
CISNEROS OFF TO HOT START |
- After a strong freshman season, sophomore Julissa Cisneros has avoided a sophomore slump through the first two games of the season.
- Cisneros owns all four of Mizzou's goals this season, including a hat trick over Ohio State (Aug. 25).
- Her hat trick was the first by a Mizzou player since Melissa Peabody accomplished the feat over Texas A&M in 2003 (Oct. 19). Cisneros is only the third Tiger to have a hat trick.
- Cisneros is one of 10 players with 4+ goals this season, and she is one shy of matching her five goals as a freshman in 2018.
BAUMAN THE HEIR TO DOSSEY |
- For the first time since 2014, Mizzou will be breaking in a new starting goalkeeper following the graduation of Kelsey Dossey at the conclusion of the 2018 season. Dossey played in 62 games over the course of her career, recording 203 saves.
- Redshirt Peyton Bauman has been the heir to Dossey through the first two games of 2019. Making the first appearance of her collegiate career, Bauman got the shutout over Southern Miss (Aug. 22). That weekend against Ohio State, Bauman recovered from a goal allowed in the fourth minute to hold the Buckeyes off the scoreboard through the rest of the game.
- Pushing Bauman for playing time is true freshman McKenna Sheehan. Sheehan played one year of high school soccer, but made the most of her limited experience — leading Cary-Grove HS to a berth in the IHSA Tournament with a record of 14-3-1.
DEFENDING WALTON STADIUM |
- Mizzou will have plenty of chances to take advantage of the friendly confines of Audrey J. Walton Stadium in 2019.
- The Tigers will play 12 of their 18 games at Walton Stadium, including six-straight home games from Aug. 29-Sept. 15.
- Since joining the SEC, beginning with the 2012 season, Mizzou has gone a combined 45-17-7 at home — a combined winning percentage of .703 over the last seven seasons.
