Tiger southpaw becomes program’s first All-American since 2009
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball junior LHP TJ Sikkema was named a 2019 NCAA Division I Third Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, announced Thursday by the national outlet. Collegiate Baseball designated a 17-man First Team, 32-man Second Team and 32-man Third Team All-American squads this year.
Sikkema becomes the first Tiger to receive First, Second or Third Team All-America accolades in 10 years. RHP Kyle Gibson garnered Second Team honors in 2009 following a standout campaign in the Big 12 Conference. Historically, Sikkema becomes the Tigers' 34th all-time First, Second or Third Team All-American recipient.

Sikkema was simply sensational throughout his 2019 campaign, accumulating seven wins with an incredible 1.32 ERA over 88.2 innings pitched. Additionally, the Dewitt, Iowa, native recorded 101 strikeouts while limiting batters to a miniscule .175 batting average.
With the college baseball world preparing for this weekend's NCAA Regionals, Sikkema currently ranks fourth in the nation with his 1.32 ERA, 10th with 5.48 hits allowed per nine innings pitched, 24th with a 0.96 WHIP and 56th with his 101 punch outs.
Earlier this month, Sikkema garnered Second Team All-SEC honors. He became the first Tiger to receive First or Second Team All-SEC accolades since RHP Breckin Williams in 2015. Additionally, Sikkema was named only one of 25 semifinalists for the prestigious 2019 Golden Spikes Award in mid-May. He was only the third all-time Tiger to receive the high honor, joining Gibson in 2009 and RHP Aaron Crow in 2008.
With 258 career strikeouts over his three-year tenure in Mid-Missouri, Sikkema currently ranks sixth all-time in the Tiger record book.
