Tigers Will Face Cal State Fullerton in Game One on Friday Night

STORYLINES
- Mizzou earned its 13th-consecutive regional bid last weekend, as the Tigers were selected as the No. 2 seed in the Los Angeles Regional.
- Despite the NCAA placing sanctions on Mizzou Softball, the appeal process gave the Tigers new life, as all punishments are stayed through the appeal process.
- The Tigers will face off against No. 3 UCLA, Cal State Fullerton and Weber State this weekend.
- Though they are ranked third nationally, UCLA was the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament bracket.
- Mizzou and UCLA have already squared off once this season, as the Bruins took down the Tigers 11-3 in six innings at the Mary Nutter Classic.
- Despite getting run-ruled in that game, Mizzou actually led the Bruins 3-2 in the top of the third inning. Mizzou trailed 6-3 before redshirt senior P Madi Norman got beamed in the leg and had to be replaced.
- Mizzou will start things off with a matchup against the No. 3 Regional seed, Cal State Fullerton.
- Mizzou trails the Titans 2-6 in the all-time series. However, Mizzou beat the Titans 10-2 in their most recent meeting, back on Feb. 19, 2015.
- Mizzou will also more than likely face Weber State, a school the Tigers have never faced before.
POSTSEASON HONORS
- Sophomore OF Brooke Wilmes and freshman SS Jazmyn Rollin took home 2019 SEC Postseason honors, while Wilmes and Norman received NFCA All-Regional Nods.
- Wilmes was named First-Team All-SEC and Second-Team All-Southeast Region, Norman was tabbed Third-Team All-Southeast Region, while Rollin was named to the All-Freshman squad.
- With her first-team nod, Wilmes becomes the first Tiger since Emily Crane in 2016 to earn a spot on the SEC's First Team.
- Wilmes also becomes the first underclassman to be named to an All-Conference First-Team since Taylor Gadbois was named to the SEC's first team back in 2014.
- For Rollin, she earns the All-Freshman nod on the heels of being named an NFCA Freshman of the Year Top-25 finalist.
- Mizzou has now placed at least one player on the team for six straight seasons, including Wilmes a season ago.
- Norman becomes one of just three Mizzou hurlers ever to receive All-Southeast honors, joining Tori Finucane (2014) and Chelsea Thomas (2013).
WILMES RARELY WHIFFS
- Sophomore OF Brooke Wilmes has been a consistent bat for the Tigers all season, but she is also one of the toughest players to strike out in the entire country.
- Wilmes is one of just 11 players in the country to average 34.4 or more at bats between strikeouts.
- Wilmes is the only SEC player in the top-25 in the category, and one of just four players playing in a power five conference to make that cut.
- Wilmes has had 172 at bats this season, and has only struck out five times all season.
STORMIN' NORMAN
- Redshirt Senior P Madi Norman is having a career year under Anderson's tutelage.
- Norman notched her first-ever 10 K game against a conference foe in game one against South Carolina.
- It was Norman's third-career 10-K performance.
- Norman now has 17 wins this season, the most by a Tiger pitcher since Paige Lowary notched 25 back in 2016.
- Norman's 132 strikeouts so far this season are the most in a single season by a Mizzou pitcher since Lowary collected 151 in 2016.
- Norman has pitched 169.0 innings this season, the most for a Mizzou pitcher since Lowary completed 198.0 in 2016.
- If Norman somehow reaches 200.0 innings pitched she'll be the first Mizzou player to reach the 200.0-inning barrier since Chelsea Thomas pitched 229.1 innings in 2012.
- By collecting 32 or more strikeouts over the course of postseason play, Norman would total the most strikeouts in a single season since Lowary posted 164 during the 2015 season.
