Tigers even the weekend series in back and forth contest Saturday
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball (21-11-1, 4-6-1 SEC) evened its weekend series vs. Kentucky Saturday in exciting fashion, courtesy of a ninth inning walk-off RBI single by junior 3B Austin James. It was a wild afternoon at Taylor Stadium, as the two teams combined for six runs in the final three innings of play.
Mizzou possessed a 3-0 advantage heading to the seventh, but a single run in the frame plus a three-run home run in the eighth inning by Kentucky suddenly gave the visitors a 4-3 lead. Senior INF Paul Gomez quickly answered for the Tigers in the bottom of the eighth with a solo home run to even the score at four apiece.
Senior RHP Cameron Dulle recorded a pair of outs in the top of the ninth to set up the eventual game winner for the Tigers. In the bottom half, junior UTIL Peter Zimmermann opened the frame with his third hit of the day. Later on, James sent the black and gold faithful home with smiles after a two-out walk-off RBI single.

Hear From Head Coach Steve Bieser
On James delivering the walk-off hit…
"It was really big. For us and for our team. I've been saying it for a while, Austin is a really good player and he's going to get hot eventually. We've seen him take some better at bats over the course of the last week. He's getting his opportunities right now. That was huge coming up with the game-winning hit today. Hopefully he can start relaxing more and more and getting better and better."
