Omazic is one of 28 players selected to team and one of just eight middle blockers
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball junior MB Tyanna Omazic was one of 28 players selected to the 2019 U.S. Women's Volleyball Collegiate National Team – Anaheim roster, announced Monday by USA Volleyball. Omazic is the second from Mizzou Volleyball to earn a spot on a USA Volleyball team this spring as OH Kylie Deberg was selected to the World University Games roster last month.
"We're very excited and happy for Tyanna," Mizzou Volleyball head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "She has all the tools to be a great player and getting this training opportunity will be invaluable. Being in the gym with some of the best in the country will be a great experience for her and it will definitely help in her overall development as a player."

The Anaheim roster is comprised of 28 of the nation's best players and Omazic was one of eight middle blockers selected to the team. Last year, Omazic was a standout for Coach Kreklow and his staff, totaling 237 kills in in 32 matches (7.4/match and 2.01 per set), the top attacking numbers for a Mizzou middle a year ago. She also pitched in 117 total blocks, second-best on the team behind only four-time All-American Alyssa Munlyn.
The squad will train June 23-29 at the American Sports Centers in Anaheim, the official host city for the U.S. Women's and Men's National Volleyball Teams. The program will hold a public Red-Blue scrimmage on June 28 in the vicinity of Anaheim (site and time TBA).
The CNT-Anaheim coaches include Dan Fisher (University of Pittsburgh), Travis Hudson (Western Kentucky University), Kirsten Bernthal-Booth (Creighton University) and Melissa Wolter (University of West Florida). Technical coordinators for the team are Taylor Filzen (University of Dayton) and Jess Aschenbrenner (University of Denver). Rod Wilde will serve as the mentor coach, while Jeff Wanderer has been selected as the team manager.
Athletes were selected through the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts held March 1-3 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
