
O'Brien, Schreuders Garner All-America First Team Honors at NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, Texas. – Seniors Jordan O'Brien (Naperville, Ill.) and Mikel Schreuders (Oranjestad, Aruba) garnered All-America first team honors to highlight day three action for the Mizzou men's swimming and diving team Friday at the 2019 NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.
Senior Kyle Goodwin (Aurora, Colo.) and the 200 medley relay also earned All-America honorable mention accolades on Friday.
With one day of competition remaining, Missouri is ninth in the team standings with 88 points.
KEY PERFORMANCES
Seniors O'Brien and Schreuders both posted eighth-place finishes to claim the first individual All-America first team honors of their careers.
O'Brien, who came into the meet seeded 17th in the 100 breast, clocked a personal-best time of 51.93 in prelims to secure a spot in the 100 breast championship final. He then went 52.11, his second-fastest time ever, in the evening session to take eighth in the event.
Schreuders, went 1:32.75 in the 200 free championship final to touch eighth, an improvement of two places from his 10th-place finish at the 2018 NCAA Championships. The 2019 Southeastern Conference Championship in the same event, Schreuders went 1:32.15 in prelims to qualify for the A final.
Goodwin nabbed his second All-America honor in as many days on 3-meter. The senior placed 15th overall on the board with a finals total of 325.65, after totaling 362.3 in preliminary action. He took home honorable mention accolades for the third time in his career, joining a top 16 performance on 1-meter on Thursday and a 13th-place finish on platform as a freshman in 2016.
The Tigers also nabbed a top 16 finish in the 200 medley relay to close the evening. The quartet of junior Nick Alexander (St. Louis, Mo.), O'Brien, junior Daniel Hein (Sycamore, Ill.) and senior Luke Mankus (Keller, Texas) placed 15th with a finals time of 1:25.10.
A total of nine additional Tigers had individual swims on Friday. Kovac narrowly missed All-America honorable mention honors in the 100 fly after a personal-best 45.77 in prelims. He took 18th in the morning session, 16 spots higher than his seed.
Junior Micah Slaton (Austin, Texas) and Mankus also went in the 100 fly, with Slaton placing 33rd in 46.20 and Mankus 39th in 46.49.
Freshman Jack Dahlgren (Victoria, Minn.) earned a 21st-place finish in the 200 free after a time of 1:33.68, while junior Giovanny Lima (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and freshman Jack Dubois (Alpharetta, Ga.) both put up personal best times. Lima went 1:34.05 to place 24th and Dubois touched in 1:35.29 for 39th.
Also swimming on Friday were Hein and Alexander in the 100 back, with finishes of 22nd (45.72) and 28th (46.21), respectively. Junior Caleb Hicks (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished 26th in the 100 breast in 52.81, and senior Jacob Wielinski (Mounds View, Minn.) was 33rd in the 400 IM in 3:47.81.
