Strong start from Joven, three Tigers with two RBI highlight Wednesday matchup
SAN ANTONIO – Mizzou Baseball (17-9) concluded its two-day trip in San Antonio with an 11-7 Wednesday evening victory over Incarnate Word. The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning and never surrendered their advantage the rest of the night.
Junior LHP Art Joven delivered a quality start, en route to his second victory of the year. Sophomore RHP Ian Bedell was fantastic in the final three innings of play, not allowing a single hit or run. His strong outing locked down his second save of the season.
Senior C Trevor Mallett sparked the Tiger offense with a two-run home run in the second inning. It was a sign of things to come for the Mizzou offense Wednesday, as it finished with double-digit runs for the second consecutive day and eighth time this year.

Hear From Head Coach Steve Bieser
On Wednesday's contest against the Cardinals…
"I'm always thankful for the victory. We were able to outplay the other team, score more runs and gain the W there. We knew in this game though that there were things we left out there. Some plays we didn't make. That's frustrating. That's two straight games where we haven't played the defense that I know this team is capable of."
On Joven's quality start on the bump…
"He did. What a gutsy performance there. We were hoping to get five innings out of him. It took every ounce of energy he had to give us those five. He worked around some tough situations. He did a great job with damage control."
