Mizzou Opens Lone Star State Road Trip with Two Wins
- Mizzou opened its week-long trip in Texas Tuesday-Wednesday with a pair of non-conference wins in San Antonio.
- Tuesday (March 26) was a 12-11, 12-inning marathon victory at UTSA. The Tigers trailed by three runs with zero on and two outs in the ninth inning and rallied to send the game to extras. After each team scored two runs in the 10th inning, Mizzou's single run in the 12th proved to be a game-winner.
- It was the Tigers' first extra-inning game of the 2019 campaign, while improving their Tuesday matchups' record to 5-0. The win was extra sweet, as it marked Mizzou's first triumph this year when trailing after eight innings of play.
- Wednesday (March 27) evening at Incarnate Word saw a strong start by junior LHP Art Joven (5.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 5 K) and a lock down three-inning save by sophomore RHP Ian Bedell (3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 K).
- Senior C Trevor Mallett sparked the Tiger offense with a two-run home run in the second inning, his first career long ball in black and gold. It was a sign of things to come for Mizzou's offense, as it finished with 10-plus runs for the second consecutive day and eighth overall time this year.
