PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Mizzou Wrestling advanced four wrestlers into the quarterfinals during session II of the 2019 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships Thursday night (March 21) at PPG Paints Arena. With the four wrestlers advancing to Friday morning's quarterfinals, and four grapplers still alive in the wrestlebacks, Mizzou has eight of its nine tournament qualifiers still alive.

After two sessions, Mizzou ranks sixth in the team competition, despite losing a team point for a control of mat area violation. Below are the team standings.

5. Oklahoma State – 20.0
6. Missouri – 18.0
7. Michigan – 17.5

Into the quarterfinals are RS senior John Erneste (133), RS junior Jaydin Eierman (141), true freshman Brock Mauller (149) and RS senior Daniel Lewis (174). Erneste is into the quarters for the first time in three NCAA appearances. Eierman is in the quarters for the third straight season and Lewis has advanced that far in all four years of his career. He looks to become the program's third-ever four-time All-American Friday.

Mauller, a true freshman, is of course making his first quarterfinal appearance. He is the first Mizzou true freshman to make the quarterfinals since three-time national champion J'den Cox did so. Mauller's 30 wins on the season are the most by a Mizzou freshman since Cox's 38 in 2013-14.

Also still alive for Mizzou in the consolation brackets are true freshman Jarrett Jacques (157), juniors Connor Flynn (165) and Dylan Wisman (184), and true freshman Zach Elam (HWT).

Action will resume tomorrow (Friday, March 22) at 10 a.m. (CT) with the third session. Session IV will be Friday at 7 p.m. (CT).  Below are the complete results from day one, and the Friday morning matchups for each wrestler.
