
Conrad, Khamis Claim NCAA Berths on Final Day of Zones

AUSTIN, Texas - Senior Payton Conrad (Omaha, Neb.) and freshman Ike Khamis (Richland, Ind.) of the Mizzou men's and women's diving teams earned NCAA Championships berths on Wednesday during the final day of action at the 2019 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin. Texas. Both Conrad and Khamis qualified for the Championships for the first time in their careers.
The duo join senior Kyle Goodwin (Aurora, Colo.) with NCAA diving berths, as Goodwin qualified on both 1-meter and 3-meter earlier this week.
KEY PERFORMANCES
In the final Zone Championships of her Tiger career, Conrad clinched her first NCAA bid thanks to an eighth-place finish on platform on Wednesday. The senior scored a career-high 267.5 points in prelims to advance to the finals, where she needed a top nine finish to earn an NCAA berth. Conrad then tallied 249.85 points in the five-dive final to secure her Championships invitation.
Khamis punched his NCAA ticket after placing ninth in the men's platform competition. He posted a prelims total of 334.15 in prelims and added 301.8 in finals for a 12-dive total of 655.95, which secured the freshman the ninth and NCAA qualifying spot on platform in Zone D. Khamis, who took fifth on platform at last month's Southeastern Conference Championships, is the first Tiger freshman diver since Goodwin in 2016 to earn a spot at the NCAA Championships.
