Huskies tallied four runs on three hits in game-deciding frame
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Mizzou Baseball (2-3) yet again competed in a tightly contested ballgame Thursday at City of Palms Park, but fell victim to a late charge as Northeastern escaped with a 4-3 victory.
Tiger starting pitcher Tyler LaPlante was fantastic throughout most of the night, tossing 7.0 scoreless innings before falling into trouble in the eighth inning. LaPlante failed to record an out in the eighth, as the first three batters reached base. The Huskies ultimately sent 10 batters to the plate in the top half of the eighth, producing four runs on three hits in the game-deciding frame.

Hear From Head Coach Steve Bieser
On Thursday night's ballgame…
"We left too many runners on base. We had several opportunities with a runner on third base with less than two outs and couldn't come up with that clutch hit. This is a game we should've opened up and scored way more than three runs."
On LaPlante's outing on the mound…
"He really competed for seven innings and then just wore down and didn't have what he needed in the eighth. We tried to go in there with (Cameron) Dulle, but we just didn't have him ready to go. He has been doing great work for us and has been competing really well. We had a little misplay with a play at the plate and not getting that force out there was the difference in the game."
On creating a spark for the Tigers' offense…
"It's a tough thing. We've tried a lot of different things. We are just going to have to play our way out of it. The guys are going to have to get back to the field tomorrow, trust themselves and keep going. That's all we can do."
