Amanda Kim Sets Team Pace, Tied for 3rd Individually Through 27 Holes
GREENSBORO, GA – The Mizzou women's golf team got its 2019 spring season underway today with 27 holes of action in the Lake Oconee Invitational, played at the Reynolds Lake Oconee National Course. Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer's squad worked to shake off the winter rust, and stands in seventh place at the halfway point of the 17-team, 54-hole tournament hosted by Mercer University.
Senior Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) was a bright spot for the Tigers Saturday, as she stands tied for third place individually through 27 holes, at just one-over par. Kim shot an even-par 72 on her first 18 holes, and shared the individual lead for much of the day, thanks to 16 pars, one birdie and just one bogey. Playing from the No. 3 spot in the lineup, Kim turned in eight more pars to go with only one bogey on her last nine and finds herself just three shots off the pace of the leader heading into Sunday.
The bottom part of the lineup was solid Saturday, as No. 5 Cayce Hendrickson (Senior – Benton, Ky.) is tied for 24th individually at five-over par. Freshman Keagan Dunn, a Braselton, Ga., native making her first collegiate start in her home state, played from the No. 4 spot and was third on the team at nine-over par that left her tied for 53rd overall. Hendrickson shot a two-over par 74 on her first 18, while Dunn was just behind with a six-over 78 that featured a pair of birdies.
Veteran standouts Emma Allen (Sr. – Southampton, England) and Jessica Yuen (Jr. – Bolingbrook, Ill.) will look to bounce back tomorrow after uncharacteristic performances on Saturday. Allen, playing from the No. 1 spot, is tied for 67th overall at 10-over par through 27 holes, while Yuen is tied for 75th overall at 11-over par, playing in the No. 2 lineup spot. Allen's first 18 Saturday was a seven-over 79, while Yuen shot a 10-over 82. Yuen was able to right the ship as she was just one-over on her third nine of the day.
Mizzou will look to make a move up the leaderboard Sunday in the final 27 holes of play, with a shotgun start scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
