Mizzou Volleyball’s Fuentes Named SEC Overall Player and Setter of the Week

San Juan native posted 14.29 assists per set in Tigers’ pair of SEC wins
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball redshirt sophomore S Andrea Fuentes was recognized as the Southeastern Conference Week 14 Volleyball Overall Player and Setter of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.
"Andrea continued her fantastic season this past week at Ole Miss and versus LSU," said Mizzou Volleyball head coach Joshua Taylor. "As usual, she did a really nice job of putting our attackers in a great position to succeed, evident by our .300-plus hitting percentage in our recent two matches. I'm really pleased with her constant growth this season and we're excited to get going this weekend at the NCAA Tournament!"

Monday's announcement marks Fuentes' ninth career honor by the SEC office. She has been tabbed the SEC Setter of the Week five times this year, while being recognized as the SEC Overall Player of the Week three times.
Fuentes opened her week with 56 assists at Ole Miss (Nov. 27), marking her eighth match this year with 50-plus assists. She was fantastic in the final two sets against the Rebels, assisting the Mizzou offense to .412 and .350 hitting in sets three and four, respectively.
In the 2019 regular season finale versus LSU (Nov. 30), Fuentes orchestrated the Mizzou offense to an outstanding .357 team hitting mark. It was the Tigers' 13th match this year with .300-plus hitting. Four of those occurrences have taken place in the teams' past seven matches played.
The San Juan native concluded her regular season as the SEC overall leader in assists per set (11.84). Additionally, Fuentes also paced the league in SEC only assists per set (12.03).
