COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Track and Field announced the team's 2019-2020 schedule this week, which features five home meets across the indoor and outdoor seasons. The indoor season will consist of seven regular season meets before postseason competition, which will include trips to College Station, Texas and Albuquerque, N.M. The outdoor season is slated to have nine regular season meets before postseason competition begins, with the Tigers returning to College Station, Texas for the SEC Outdoor Championships before heading to Lawrence, Kan. for round one of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Mizzou will open the indoor season with the Mizzou Holiday Opener on Friday, Dec. 6. Following the holiday break, the Tigers will return for another home meet on Friday, Jan. 17 at the Missouri Intercollegiate. From there the Tigers will travel to College Station, Texas for the Texas A&M Invitational on Jan. 24 and 25. This will mark the Tigers' first regular season trip to College Station since the 2012 season, where the men placed second and the women placed third.
The following weekend the team will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Razorback Team Invitational before heading back to Columbia, Mo. on Friday, Feb. 7 for the Mizzou Open. The squads will split up and head to the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., and the ISU Invitational in Ames, Iowa the weekend of Feb. 14 and 15. Finally the Tigers will host the Missouri Collegiate Challenge to wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Feb 22.
Indoor postseason competition will begin on Thursday, Feb 27 in College Station, Texas for the SEC Indoor Championships. The Tigers set five program top-10 marks at last season's championships, including a women's DMR third-place finish that was the 10th-fastest time in program history.
Following the SEC Championships, the teams will travel to Albuquerque, N.M. for the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 13 and 14.
Outdoor season will begin with trips to Tempe, Ariz. for the Baldy Castillo Invitational and Edwardsville, Ill. for the SIUE Invitational on the weekend of March 20 and 21. The following weekend, April 3 and 4, squads will travel to Athens, Ga. and Palo Alto, Cali. for the Georgia Spec Town and the Stanford Invitational. The Tigers will then return home April 10 and 11 for the annual Tom Botts Invitational.
April 17 and 18 the teams will travel to the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Ala. and the Bryant Clay Invitational in Azusa, Cali. The Tigers will travel to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays on April 24, where last season the teams excelled in field events and logged four top-five finishes in track events. Mizzou will wrap up regular season competition at the Rock Chalk Invitational in Lawrence, Kan. on April 2. This will be the Tigers first trip to Lawrence for a competition since they competed in the Kansas vs. Missouri Dual during the 2012 Indoor season. Following Mizzou's move to the SEC, the annual dual no longer took place. However, the recent renewal of the rivalry between the two teams will be extended to the track season.
The Tigers will return to College Station, Texas for the SEC Outdoor Championships beginning on May 14. Last season, Gabi Jacobs earned a conference title in the discus, leading the women to a seventh-place finish. The men finished in 12th. Following conference championships, the team will travel to Lawrence, Kan. for round one of the NCAA Championships on May 28. There they hope to qualify for the finals in Austin, Texas, which begin on June 10.
