Senior named First Team All-SEC, Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In what has already been an illustrious career, senior Sarah Luebbert (Jefferson City, Mo.) added to her legacy on Sunday. The senior was named First Team All-SEC and the SEC Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year, the league office announced.
Luebbert becomes only the second player in program history to be named First Team All-SEC twice in her career, and is the first Tiger to do so since Kaysie Clark earned the honor in 2013 and 2014. She was named first-team all-conference as a junior in 2018, and was named to the second team as a freshman and sophomore.
With four all-conference honors to her name, Luebbert is the second player in program history to accomplish the feat. Former All-American Nikki Thole was named to the All-Big 12 teams every year of her career (1997- Second Team, 1998-2000- First Team).
Luebbert, who has a 3.72 GPA while pursuing her degree in mathematics, was voted Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year alongside Alabama's Nealy Martin and Mississippi State's Makayla Waldner. Allison Hu is the only other Mizzou player to have earned the honor, doing so in 2012.
The all-conference awards and honors were voted on by the league's coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for players on their own team.
The 2016 SEC Freshman of the Year, Luebbert concluded her collegiate career with a rebound season in 2019. She was second on the team with 22 points – scoring eight goals and spreading out six assists. The 22 points are the most she's had since her sophomore season in 2017. Luebbert was 2-for-3 from the penalty spot this season, and she scored the game-winner in the second overtime period against Xavier, Sept. 1.
Luebbert ends her Mizzou career in the top 10 in goals (29, T-7th), assists (21, T-8th), game-winning goals (8, T-7th) and points (79, 8th).
