MIZZOU HOSTS TENNESSEE ON SENIOR DAY, LOOKING FOR BOWL ELIGIBILITY
- Mizzou Football (5-5, 2-4 SEC) will play its final of seven home games at Memorial Stadium this Saturday (Nov. 23) at 6:30 p.m. on SEC Network, welcoming SEC East foe Tennessee (5-5, 3-3 SEC).

With both teams at 5-5 on the season, the winner will become bowl eligible (keep in mind Mizzou's current postseason ban from the NCAA is currently under appeal and the Tigers will be eligible with a win).
- Saturday's game will be broadcast on SEC Network with Tom Hart, Jordan Rodgers and Cole Cubelic on the call. Mizzou fans can also hear the game on the Tiger Radio Network with Mike Kelly, Howard Richards and Chris Gervino on the call.

TIGERS IN THE MIDDLE OF TOUCH SCHEDULE STRETCH
- Mizzou has had a strange schedule this season, opening on the road at Wyoming way back in August before playing a school-record five straight home games with a bye sprinkled in from Sept. 7 through Oct. 12. The Tigers then went on the road for three-straight games, closing with a contest at then-sixth-ranked Georgia. The Tigers finally returned home last week to face No. 11 Florida, having gone 35 days between home games. Mizzou is the only Power 5 team to go that long between home games this season and it is tied with Ball State, Northern Illinois and Kent State for the longest such streak nationally this season.
- Additionally, Mizzou is coming off of back-to-back games vs. teams ranked in the Top 11 nationally. Mizzou's bout at Georgia (Nov. 9) and last Saturday's tilt vs. No. 11 Florida marked the first time that Mizzou has played Top 11 teams in back-to-back weeks since the 2007 season when it defeated second-ranked Kansas, 36-28, in Kansas City one week prior to losing the Big 12 Championship game to ninth-ranked Oklahoma, 38-17.
- Now, the Tigers get a Tennessee team that has won three straight and four of five, before closing the regular season next Friday (Nov. 29) vs. Arkansas in Little Rock.
SERIES VS. TENNESSEE
- Mizzou leads the all-time series with Tennessee, 5-2, with all seven meetings coming since Mizzou joined the SEC in 2012. Mizzou won the initial meeting in a wild, 51-48 four overtime decision at Neyland Stadium. Mizzou won the first three meetings between the two SEC East rivals, including wins in 2013 and 2014 as the Tigers claimed back-to-back SEC East championships.
- Tennessee won two straight in the series from 2015-16, including a 63-37 win in 2016.
- Mizzou has won the last two meetings in the series, both by a score of 50-17.
- Last year, Mizzou got a pair of huge defensive plays that led to scores and then-senior QB Drew Lock guided a dominant Mizzou offense all afternoon as Mizzou improved to 7-4 overall with what was then its eighth-consecutive November win.
- Then a junior, CB DeMarkus Acy hauled in his second and third career interceptions in the game. He returned his first interception 78 yards to set up a second-quarter Mizzou score and ice the game.
- With 135 yards on the ground, then-sophomore RB Larry Rountree III recorded his fourth career game of 100 rushing yards. In his career, Rountree is averaging 145 yards per game (6.6 per carry) on the ground vs. Tennessee while scoring a pair of TDs.
- Over Mizzou's last two games vs. Tennessee, both 50-17 wins, the Tigers are averaging 571.5 total yards of offense per game, including an incredible 343.0 per game on the ground. In fact, if you look at Mizzou's last three games against the Vols, Mizzou is averaging 627.7 total yards of offense if you include Tennessee's 63-37 win at Neyland in 2016.
LAST TIME OUT VS. No. 11 FLORIDA
- Mizzou Football was upended by No. 11 Florida, 23-6, last Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium, despite a spirited effort from its defense that turned in a season-high four sacks. The Tigers fell to 5-5 on the year and 2-4 in SEC play while the 11th-ranked Gators improved to 9-2 and 6-2 in SEC play. The loss was Mizzou's first at home this season and snapped a seven-game home winning streak that dated back to the 2018 season.
- Mizzou limited Florida to just 58 rushing yards on the day, the fifth time this season that Mizzou has limited an opponent to fewer than 100 yards on the ground. The defense also limited Florida to just three third-down conversions on 14 attempts.
- Junior DT Kobie Whiteside tallied his second multi-sack game of the season, posting 2.0 in the first half. He leads Mizzou with 6.0 sacks on the season.
- LB Nick Bolton, the SEC's leading tackler, posted six tackles with a pass breakup. All six of his tackles were of the solo variety.
- S Khalil Oliver posted four tackles and a pair of pass breakups, the latter of which are a career-best.
- Junior RB Larry Rountree III moved into sixth place on Mizzou's career rushing list with 30 yards on seven carries. He now has 2,617 career yards in his career.
DEFENSE KEEPING TEAM IN GAMES
- Looking at Mizzou's last two games - against two of the nation's elite teams - the defense has given Mizzou chances to stay in every game with its continued fine play this season.
- Mizzou's defense limited Georgia to just 339 total yards, despite the Dawgs coming into the game averaging 462.1 yards per game (26th nationally).
- Mizzou's defense limited the Bulldogs to a 2.3 yards per carry average in the first half. Georgia came into the game averaging an incredible 6.1 yards per carry in the first half this season.
- The defense allowed just 27 total yards of offense in the second quarter, and that mark was at -6 before Georgia's final drive that led to a field goal as time expired in the opening half. The defense limited Georgia to just 4.3 yards per play in the opening 30 minutes.
- Mizzou also limited UGA QB Jake Fromm to his worst career completion percentage (44.8).
- Looking at last week's game vs. Florida, the Tigers were again stingy on defense, holding the Gators to a touchdown below their season average and 33 yards below their average.
- Most notably, Mizzou slowed Florida's running game to the tune of just 56 total yards on the ground. That is the fifth time this season that Mizzou has limited an opponent to fewer than 100 rushing yards this season. It was 57 below the Gators' season average.
- Mizzou has limited its last two opponents - both Top-11 teams nationally - to just 3.47 yards per carry.
- Florida came into last week's game with the Tigers, converting 42 percent of its third downs on the season. Mizzou held the Gators to just a 3-of-14 mark (21.4 percent), their worst since going 2-for-10 in their season-opener vs. Miami.
- Mizzou continues to be great on third down defense this season, ranking 14th nationally, allowing opponents to convert just 30.9 percent of their third downs.
