Mizzou Volleyball’s Fuentes Named SEC Co-Setter of the Week

San Juan native posted 14.17 assists per set in Tigers’ weekend sweeps
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball redshirt sophomore S Andrea Fuentes was recognized as the Southeastern Conference Week 12 Volleyball Co-Setter of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.
"Andrea did an outstanding job this past weekend in leading our offense," said Mizzou Volleyball head coach Joshua Taylor. "She got all of our attackers involved and put them in great positions to succeed at a high level. Our offense was clicking virtually all weekend and Andrea deserves a lot of credit!"

Monday's announcement marks Fuentes' eighth career honor by the SEC office. She has been tabbed the SEC Setter of the Week four times this year, while being recognized as the SEC Overall Player of the Week twice. The San Juan native was named SEC Setter of the Week once in her 2018 redshirt freshman campaign, while garnering SEC Freshman of the Week honors on three occasions as well.
This past weekend in sweeps versus Alabama (Nov. 15) and South Carolina (Nov. 17), Fuentes produced 85 total assists (14.17 per set) while the Tigers' offense collectively tallied 100 kills (16.67 per set) on .363 hitting.
Mizzou opened the weekend with 49 kills on .411 hitting against the Crimson Tide. It marked the Tigers' third match in SEC play this year with .400-plus hitting. Overall, it was Mizzou's eighth match with .400-plus hitting this season.
The Tigers ended the weekend with Fuentes orchesterating the offense to 51 kills on .321 hitting. It marked Mizzou's 12th match this season with .300-plus hitting.
Heading into this week's slate of SEC matches, Fuentes' 11.69 assists per set on the year ranks seventh in the NCAA. She's played a pivotal role into Mizzou's high-powered offense this season, as its .313 hitting percentage ranks second in the nation while its 14.60 kills per set ranks seventh.
