Tigers Ranked in Numerous Pre-Season Top-25 Polls Already
The exciting 2018 football season is barely over for the Missouri Tiger program, and thoughts are already turning to the upcoming 2019 season, which will be the fourth under Head Coach Barry Odom. Coming off an 8-5 campaign this past year, and coupled with a significant amount of returning talent, outside prognosticators think highly of Mizzou's chances to be among the nation's best. As many as five media outlets have listed the Tigers in their respective pre-season top-25 rankings, as published in the past week.
WatchStadium Sports leads the way, listing Mizzou at No. 13 in their early pre-season top-25 poll, which is the highest spot the Tigers find themselves in to date. Yahoo! Sports is next, putting Mizzou at No. 18 in their poll. Others listing Mizzou in the pre-season top-25 include Athlon Sports (No. 20), ESPN.com (No. 22) and Sports Illustrated (No. 24).
With seven starters expected back on offense, and another six on defense and one kicking specialist, Mizzou looks to continue the trend established under Coach Odom, as his squads have increased their win total each year under his direction (four wins in 2016, seven in 2017 and eight in 2018).
The team is currently off enjoying some down time prior to the start of the spring semester, which begins Jan. 22nd. Once back in school, the Tigers will undergo winter conditioning, in preparation for the start of 2019 spring camp in March. They will have approximately 14 practices in the spring leading up to the annual Black & Gold Spring Game, which is set for Saturday, April 13th. Stay tuned for more details surrounding the spring game weekend, as they become available.
The request list is open currently to those interested in learning more about season tickets for the 2019 season, which will feature an exciting seven-game home schedule at Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field. The home schedule will feature September matchups with West Virginia (Sept. 7), Southeast Missouri State (Sept. 14) and South Carolina (Sept. 21), followed by the first of two bye weeks on Sept. 28. After the bye, the Tigers stay home to finish up a rare five-game homestand, wrapping up with games against Troy (Oct. 5) and the Homecoming game against Ole Miss (Oct. 12). After three straight road games, Mizzou will return home for a final two-game homestand against the likes of Southeastern Conference East Division rivals Florida (Nov. 16) and Tennessee (Nov. 23).
