COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Wrestling freshmen standouts Jarrett Jacques (Columbia, Mo.) and Brock Mauller (Columbia, Mo.) will compete at USA Wrestling's United World Wrestling (UWW) Junior Freestyle World Team Trials from May 17-18 in Raleigh, N.C. The event will be held at NC State's Reynolds Coliseum. The Mizzou duo will compete for a spot to wrestle for Team USA at the Junior World Freestyle Championships.
Mauller is an All-American and finished sixth nationally at 149 pounds as a true freshman last season. He was the MAC Freshman of the Year and finished his true freshman season with a 32-5 overall record, with three of his five losses coming at the NCAA Championships. He lost just twice during the regular season (to the same wrestler, who he then defeated at the NCAA Championships) and had the most wins for a Mizzou true freshman since three-time national champion J'den Cox.
Jacques was also outstanding after lifting his redshirt early in the season. He was the MAC Champion at 157 pounds and was an NCAA Qualifier as a true freshman. He went 27-8 on the year with four pins.
