COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Softball shortstop Jazmyn Rollin (Salt Lake City, Utah) has been named one of 25 finalists for the 2019 Schutt Sports / NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year Award, announced Thursday (April 18).

Rollin will be vying for a spot on the top-10 list, which will be released on May 9, while the top three finalists will be released on May 21. The Schutt Sports / NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year trophy will be presented during a live ceremony at the Women's College World Series banquet on May 28.

The first-year Tiger has made a big-time impact for head coach Larissa Anderson, emerging as one of the top freshmen in the Southeastern Conference. Entering this weekend's (April 18-20) series against Texas A&M, Rollin has been a monster at the plate, hitting .370 with six doubles, seven home runs and 26 RBI. Rollin has also been great on the base paths for the Tigers, swiping 12 bags so far this season, the most on the team. Rollin has done all of this despite the fact that she has only started 26 of the Tigers' 42 games this year.

Rollin's athleticism has been on display regularly, as she became the first Tiger with 7+ homers and 12+ stolen bases since both Sami Fagan and Emily Crane posted those numbers back in 2016. Both Fagan and Crane were named All-Americans that season.

Rollin has already started to gain traction around the SEC, as she was named the conference's Freshman of the Week back in late March for the stretch she put together against Bradley and throughout Mizzou's road sweep of then-No. 13 Kentucky. Rollin was sublime over the four-game period, notching six hits, six runs, five RBI, two homers, and two stolen bases.
