Senior guard Jordan Geist represented Mizzou Men's Basketball on the Community Service Team after making a large impact in the Columbia area during his final year at Mizzou.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the Southeastern Conference again highlighted a Community Service Team for men's basketball for the 2018-19 season. Senior guard Jordan Geist represented Mizzou Men's Basketball on the Community Service Team after making a large impact in the Columbia area during his final year at Mizzou.

Geist has played an integral role in a Book Club that the team has started at West Middle School in Columbia, which gives the student-athletes an opportunity to mentor young students and read together during monthly meetings. The meetings have positively impacted both the middle schoolers and members of the Mizzou Men's Basketball team. Geist has also participated in Toys for Tots, delivering toys to sick children at the MU Children's Hospital.

Additionally, he has taken advantage of opportunities to work with the local Boys & Girls Club chapter, participating in Mizzou's Hoops for a Cause fundraiser, youth clinics at Douglass Park in Columbia and Mizzou's Family Fun Fest over the summer.

Finally, along with many of his teammates, Geist has taken time to volunteer at the Central Missouri Food Bank this winter, packaging over 5,000 pounds of chicken for local families in need.

This marks the 21st year for the SEC Community Service team for men's basketball and all 21 league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004. The SEC began the concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994. It also marks Geist's first SEC Community Service Team inclusion.

Geist and the Tigers begin SEC Tournament play on Wednesday when they take on Georgia in the opening round at 6 p.m. on SEC Network. For all the latest on Mizzou Basketball, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @MizzouHoops.
