Jessica Yuen Tied for Fifth Individually with Nine Holes Remaining Sunday
FRANKLIN, TN. – Saturday's weather played havoc with the second day of the Mason Rudolph Championship, but the Mizzou Women's Golf team made the most of the situation, and moved up in the team standings, and find themselves in eighth place heading into the final day of play tomorrow. Teams were initially scheduled to play 18 holes each over three days from Friday through Sunday, but impending weekend weather forced the teams to try and get the final 36 holes in on Saturday. Teams got the full second round in Saturday, but ultimately Mother Nature wouldn't oblige, and play was suspended during the final round of play due to lightning in the area, meaning the tournament will wrap up Sunday as originally scheduled.
Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer's squad shot a team 302 score in the second round Saturday, which left them in 13th place, but they caught fire in the third round before play was suspended. Through almost half of the third round, Mizzou stood three-under par as a team, and that play shot them five spots up to eighth place. Senior Emma Allen (Southampton, England) was three under through 12 holes on the final round, thanks to five birdies, while junior Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) was right behind her at two-under par through nine holes before play was halted. Senior Cayce Hendrickson had herself at even par through 10 holes in the final 18, while senior Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) and junior Cherise Otter (Bloomington, Ind.) were two over through 11 holes and three over through nine holes, respectively.
Mizzou will enter Sunday's action in eighth place overall, at 18-over par, but find themselves only three strokes behind fifth-place Clemson (+15).
Individually, Yuen, who shot a one-under par 71 in Saturday's second round, heads into the final day tied for fifth place at four-under for the tournament. Allen is tied for 20th overall at one-over par after a second-round 77, while Kim is tied for 46th at plus-eight after her second-round 76. Hendrickson is tied for 59th place overall at 13-over par after her second-round 78, with Otter rounding out the Tiger lineup in a tie for 73rd place at 20-over par (second-round 81).
