
@MizzouWrestling’s Elam Selected to Junior World Championships

Competition begins Sept. 17 in Slovakia
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Wrestling freshman Zach Elam (Kansas City, Mo.) is slated to represent the US in the 2018 Junior World Championships.
Elam won two Missouri state championship in high school and was the 2017 Junior Freestyle national champion and logged a second place finish at the UWW Junior Freestyle Nationals in Las Vegas last April. He will compete for the US at 97 kg/213lbs.
The Junior World Championships are set for Sept. 17-22 in Trnava, Slovakia. The qualifying round for Freestyle wrestlers is scheduled to start at 3:30 a.m. (CT), followed by the semifinals which will begin at 12:15 p.m. (CT). Elam's weight class is slated to compete last in each round. Should he qualify, finals are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. (CT). The repechage rounds begin at 3:30 a.m. (CT) Saturday morning.
