Mizzou did nearly two hours of team bonding activities on Faurot Field Monday
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Wrestling took to Faurot Field Monday afternoon. Mark Tribus, an expert on team bonding and leadership development, led the Tigers through a series of agility and team building exercises all geared towards increasing teamwork and developing strong relationships. A 20-year Army veteran, Tribus put Mizzou Wrestling through a rigorous two-hour training session.
Redshirt Sophomore Grant Leeth spoke on the importance of team bonding.
"Team building is really important for us, even though wrestling is an individual sport," Leeth said. "But at the same time, it is a team sport in so many other aspects, and its important to feel like a team."
The Tigers competed in various team competitions, relay races and a game of four-way tug-of-war. Tribus encouraged them to work together and continuously support each other, stopping occasionally to capitalize on moments of teaching.
"With the grind, the mental and physical breaking that you go through throughout the season, you need guys there to build you back up and lean on at times. Last season I had so many guys to lean on, it's so important to have a strong relationship with all of them," Leeth said.
