Behind the Scenes: Megan Cunningham Accepts Inspiration Award

Mizzou Track & Field's Megan Cunningham accepted the Honda Cup Inspiration Award Monday night at a ceremony in Los Angeles. Megan's story of overcoming traumatic neck, spine and head injuries following a 2015 car accident to become an SEC Champion is one of true inspiration. Her father, Joe, suffered neck injuries in the car accident as well and is now a quadriplegic. Cunningham draws plenty of inspiration from him as she said the following of him while accepting the award Monday night:
"I know that I'm there receiving the inspiration award tonight, but the real inspiration is back at home. My dad, his positivity, his strength, his courage; it's complete changed my outlook and perspective on life. I'm so thankful because I have learned to appreciate all the little small things that I have. I just approach everything with a completely new and positive attitude. I just want to say thank you, and I love you."
