Buckley was also named to the SEC Community Service Team
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's Golf standout senior Hayden Buckley was named First Team All-SEC, as announced by the league office on Thursday. Buckley is the first Tiger to garner First Team All-SEC recognition since Jace Long in 2013.
Buckley, who was also named to the Haskins Award Watch List which honors the nation's top collegiate golfer, is putting together one of the best campaigns in program history. The Belden, Mississippi, native has racked up four individual tournament titles this season, taking home medalist honors at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate, the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, the SunTrust Gator Invitational and the Tiger Invitational.
Buckley also placed second at the Warrior Invitational in Hawaii, firing a second round 61, the best single-round score in program history. His cumulative score at the Warrior Invitational was an impressive 197, the best 54-hole score in program history.
Buckley has tallied 23 rounds under-par in 2017-18 and finished in the Top-10 five times. His 69.53 scoring average is the best in the SEC.
The senior was also named to the SEC Community Service Team for the third time in his career. Buckley works with the Tiger Leadership Institute, is a co-chairman of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and is passionate about the local community and helping young golfers with lessons. He goes out of his way to seek out new MizzouMade initiatives within the athletic department.
Buckley and the Tigers now turn to next week's NCAA Regional in Raleigh, North Carolina. Mizzou is making its 14th appearance in NCAA postseason play and the eighth under head coach Mark Leroux. The Tigers compete at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course from May 14-16.
