COLUMBIA- Mo. – Mizzou Women's Golf had a solid first day in Tucson, Ariz., at the Wildcat Invitational as the Tigers sit in ninth place after 36 holes. The Tigers turned in an overall score of 15-over (592: 289-303) at the Sewailo Golf Club after two rounds of shotgun play. The Invitational will resume tomorrow for a final round of 18 holes.
The Tigers are competing in a talented field with seven ranked opponents, including a trio of squads that are in the GolfStat Top 25 ranking. Mizzou is currently sitting above No. 25 North Carolina State, who is in 11th overall.
Junior Emma Allen (Southampton, England) currently leads the team sitting T-32nd and posting an overall score of 147. Allen began the day posting a 1-under 71 for the first round. She tallied her second eagle of the spring campaign on a par 5. Allen went on to finish the day 3-over (147: 71-76) with five birdies during her second round.
Sophomore Jess Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and junior Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.) both sit T-36rd with an overall score of 148. Yuen ended her first round 1-under (71) with an eagle on the same par 5. She ended the day 4-over after posting a 77 for her second round of the day.
Hendrickson recorded 1-over for her first 18 of the day then finished off the 36 holes with a total score of 4-over (148: 73-75). Hendrickson had a total of eight birdies for the day.
Junior Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) currently sits T-42nd after tallying two eagles over the 36 holes. Kim is currently 5-over after carding a first round of 74 and a second round of 75. Senior Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland) is currently placed T-57th.
The final round of the Wildcat Invitational resumes tomorrow at 9 a.m. CT.
