COLUMBIA, Mo. – For its next competition during the indoor season, Mizzou Track & Field will split in two different directions for meets in Fayetteville, Ark., and Nashville, Tenn. A large group of Tigers will head to Fayetteville for the Tyson Invitational, while a smaller group of distance runners will travel to Nashville for the Music City Challenge. Both meets will have events take place on Friday, Feb. 9, and Saturday, Feb. 10.
Live results for the Tyson Invitational will be available through flashresults.com, and through cfpiting.com for the Music City Challenge. A live stream for the Tyson Invitational will be available on SEC Network + through ESPN3.com and the WatchESPN app.
Action for Mizzou from the Tyson Invitational will begin at 2 p.m. (CT) Friday with the men's and women's long jump. Redshirt freshman Ja'Mari Ward (Cahokia, Ill.) will jump for the Mizzou men, while freshman Arielle Mack (El Paso, Texas) will jump for the women. The women's weight throw is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. (CT), with redshirt sophomore CeCe Johnson (St. Louis, Mo.) and redshirt sophomore Becky Keating (Reading, England) both slated to throw. The duo each posted top-10 program marks at the Columbia Challenge (Jan. 27) in their last time meet, as Johnson recorded the sixth-best mark at 18.88m (61-11.5) and Keating the ninth-best mark at 18.50m (60-8.5).
On Saturday, Mizzou will return to action in Fayetteville with four field events starting at Noon (CT). Among Mizzou's entries will be junior Karissa Roman (Kewanee, Ill.) in the high jump. Roman is coming off a personal-best performance at the Columbia Challenge (Jan. 27), where Roman cleared 1.77m (5-9.75) to match the ninth-best jump in program history. On the track, redshirt senior Jerrad Mason (Bridgetown, Barbados) and junior Maya Cody (St. Louis, Mo.) will both race in the 200m dash. Both Tigers have already recorded top-10 program marks in the event, with Cody running the third-fastest time (24.07), and Mason the seventh-fastest (21.52).
Over in Nashville, 17 distance runners will take the track on Friday and Saturday, including redshirt senior Megan Cunningham (Eureka, Mo.), who will toe the line in the 5000m run at 7:45 p.m. (CT) Friday. It will be Cunningham's first 5K of the indoor season, after running in the 3000m run the last two meets. The Tiger senior joined the top-10 list in her indoor debut this season, clocking a time of 9:19.07 at the Vanderbilt Invitational (Jan. 20). The 5K will be the only race Mizzou runs in the Music City on Friday evening, as the bulk of its entries will occur on Saturday, including redshirt senior Marc Dubrick (DeKalb, Ill.) in the 3000m run. Dubrick posted the sixth-fastest program mark in the 3K at the Vanderbilt Invitational (Jan. 20), clocking a time of 8:12.30.
