COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track & Field will host its final indoor meet of the season, the Missouri Collegiate Challenge, Friday at the Hearnes Center. The meet will serve as the final tune-up before the SEC Indoor Championships, which take place Feb. 24-25, in College Station, Texas.
Field events will begin the meet at 2 p.m. (CT), while track events are slated to begin at 3 p.m. (CT) and will continue with a rolling schedule. Six teams will be competing on Friday, as Mizzou will be joined by Avila, Central Methodist, Lindenwood, Westminster and Truman State. Live results will be available through pttiming.com.
Mizzou throwers' will be on display at the Hearnes, as redshirt junior Gabi Jacobs (Bloomington, Ill.) is entered in the shot put, while redshirt sophomore CeCe Johnson (St. Louis, Mo.) and redshirt sophomore Becky Keating (Reading, England) will compete in the weight throw. All three Tigers have recorded program top-10 marks this season, and will be looking to improve their marks before competing at the SEC meet next week. Also competing on Friday will be redshirt freshman Ja'Mari Ward (Cahokia, Ill.) in the long jump. Ward, the 2017 SEC Outdoor Freshman Field Athlete of the Year, recently set program top-10 marks in the long jump and triple jump at the Tyson Invitational (Feb. 9-10).
Mizzou sprinters redshirt senior Jerrad Mason (Bridgetown, Barbados) and junior Maya Cody (St. Louis, Mo.) are among the notable Mizzou entries in track events. Mason will run in the 60m dash and 4x400m relay, while Cody is slated to take the start line in the 60m dash. Cody will be joined by redshirt junior Tsai-Anne Joseph (St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago) in the 60m dash. Joseph recently recorded the sixth-best 60m dash time in program history at the Tyson Invitational (Feb. 9), crossing the finish line at 7.66.
