
Young Paces @MUWomensGolf as Tigers Place Sixth at Florida State Match-Up

Senior Clara Young tied for third overall individually, finishing 7-under par
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Women's Golf wrapped up its first tournament on a high note, finishing sixth overall as a team at the Florida State Match-Up in Tallahassee, Fla. The Tigers carded a 10-over par 874 for the tournament (295-288-291) after a 3-over 291 in Saturday's final round. Mizzou impressively finished in front of a trio of ranked teams, including No. 30 Texas A&M, No. 37 Notre Dame and No. 50 Kentucky, as the Tigers battled a talented field.
Senior Clara Young led the way for Mizzou, tying for third overall individually out of 66 competitors. Young matched her season-low 18-hole round with a 3-under 68 on Saturday to catapult into third place. She finished the tournament at 7-under par 209 (69-72-68) behind a pair of sub-70 rounds, the second-best 54 hole score of her career and her best in 2017-18.
In Saturday's final round, Young played bogey-free golf, hitting 17 greens. She recorded four birdies in the last round.
"We had a pretty good day today, it was important for us to beat some ranked teams and we did that today," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "We look forward to preparing for our tournament in Arizona in a couple of weeks. Clara and Emma (Allen) had nice finishes at this event."
Junior Emma Allen tied for 12th individually, giving Mizzou a pair of Top-15 finishers. Allen carded a 2-over par 71 and wrapped up the tournament with a score of 1-under par 215 (71-70-74) overall. She now has four Top-12 finishes during her sophomore campaign with three coming during the fall.
Sophomore Jessica Yuen continued to rebound from a 6-over par opening round, carding an even-par 72 on Saturday. Yuen moved up another six spots on the leaderboard with her solid performance in the final 18 holes, placing 30th overall at the tournament.
Cherise Otter and Cayce Hendrickson each posted sub-80 rounds on Saturday. The Tigers didn't card a single individual 18-hole round of 80 or above during the Florida State Match-Up.
