Storylines
- Mizzou faces UT-Arlington for the first time in program history. The Tigers are 8-1 all-time against Sun Belt opponents with the lone loss coming in 1974 to South Alabama.
- Mizzou leads the SEC in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 38.2 from beyond the arc. From 2012-17, Mizzou shot 32.4 percent from 3-point range. In the Martin era, Mizzou is shooting 38.2 percent from deep.
- Mizzou has made 32 triples over the last three games. The Tigers are shooting 50.8 percent from beyond the arc in that span.
- Mizzou has two players in the top 10 in the SEC in 3-point field goal percentage, sophomore Mark Smith and senior Jordan Geist. Smith leads the SEC in 3-point field goal percentage and ranks 40th in the nation, shooting 47.4 percent. Geist ranks eighth in the league at 41.2 percent. Smith also has 39 rebounds, which is three shy of matching his entire total from his freshman season at Illinois (42).
- Mizzou won 13 home games in a season for the ninth time in Mizzou Arena history a season ago and the Tigers are 15-5 in their last 20 home contests.
- Mizzou is now 4-1 in its last five overtime games after its thrilling 64-62 victory over UCF on Sunday. The Tigers claimed their first overtime victory in nonconference play since beating Vanderbilt, 85-82, on Dec. 8, 2010.
- Mizzou has outrebounded its opponent six times in seven games to begin the season. The Tigers have done that 28 times in 40 games during the Martin era.
- When Mizzou has committed less turnovers than its opponent this season, Mizzou is 4-0. Geist hasn't committed a turnover in 52 consecutive minutes of gameclock heading into Tuesday's game. The senior point guard has just 16 turnovers in a team-high 219 minutes.
- Mizzou continues to be a stout defensive team under Coach Martin. The Tigers rank fifth in the SEC in scoring defense, limiting opponents to 67.0 points per game. When Mizzou holds teams under 65 points, it is 4-0. The Tigers held UCF to its lowest scoring output of its season - 64 points - on Sunday.
- Mizzou is holding opponents to just 31.7 rebounds per game, which ranks fourth among SEC teams.
- Mizzou is third in the SEC in defensive rebound percentage (.748).
- Redshirt sophomore Mitchell Smith put together the best outing of his career, posting a career-high nine points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes. Smith is 3-of-4 from beyond the arc over the last two games. He hadn't hit a triple in his entire career before last Tuesday's victory over Temple.
- Sophomore standout forward Jeremiah Tilmon had another strong performance vs. UCF, pouring 10 points against 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall, including the game-winning bucket in overtime. Mizzou was +17 with Tilmon on the floor vs. UCF.
- Tilmon has been dominant at home this season, reaching double figures in all three games thus far. In those three contests, he's averaging 14.3 points per game and shooting 57.1 percent from the floor.
- Tilmon recently secured his third career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds vs. Temple. He grabbed all 10 rebounds in the second half.
- Freshman Javon Pickett's career-high 13 points proved key vs. UCF. Pickett added four rebounds. The young guard has grabbed at least four boards in a game four times this season.
Geist Leading the Way
- Senior guard Jordan Geist, who had surpassed 20 points in a game just once in his career (28 vs. Green Bay on Dec. 9, 2017), scored 20+ in back-to-back games in the Virgin Islands, including 21 points vs. Oregon State and 24 vs. No. 12 Kansas State. He earned Paradise Jam All-Tournament team honors for his efforts.
- Geist is the only Mizzou player with more than 20 points in a game this season. In those two 20+-point outings, Geist committed just four total turnovers in 62 total minutes.
- Most recently, Geist came up clutch vs. UCF, making a career-high five triples, including a buzzer-beating trey to send the game to OT. With 18 points, Geist scored in double digits for the fourth consecutive game for the first time in his career.
- Geist is living at the free throw line, making 14 more free throws as any other Tiger this season. He made a career-high 12 free throws vs. Oregon State.He ranks 10th in the SEC in free throw percentage (77.1 percent).
- Geist has 93 points through seven games. He had just 47 points through Mizzou's first nine games last season.
- Geist ranks eighth in the SEC in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 41.2 percent.
- He has been outstanding in second halves recently, totaling 64 points in the final 20 minutes alone over the last five games.
