
Oliveira, Gruber Win Doubles Flight at Missouri State Fall Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Sophomores Taylor Gruber (Spicewood, Texas) and Marta Oliveira (Lisbon, Portugal) claimed the Flight A doubles title during day one action at the Missouri State Fall Invitational Friday in Springfield, Mo. Due to weather, Friday action consisted of doubles competition only, with singles play slated to begin on Saturday.
TOP TIGERS
Oliveira and Gruber went a perfect 3-0 to nab the Flight A doubles crown at the Invitational in their first action as a doubles team this fall. The pair started Friday competition with a 6-4 win over Southeast Missouri State's Kseniya Zonova and Sneha Sinha in the first round, followed by a 6-3 defeat over Chunxi Xin and Fuka Nonoyama of Central Arkansas in the second round.
Gruber and Oliveira then dispatched Southwest Baptist's Jill Van Den Dungen and Klara Vickov, 6-4, in the championship match to nab the doubles flight win.
Also in action on Friday were junior Gabrielle Goldin (Bradenton, Fla.) and sophomore Ally Noback (Alpharetta, Ga.). The pair won their first doubles match of the day, a 6-4 victory over Louisiana-Monroe's Emilia Alfaro and Angeles Mari Cueto, before falling in the second round and third-place match.
