@MizzouVB Alum Juliana Evens Named 2018 AVCA Club 13s Coach of the Year

Former Mizzou Volleyball libero/defensive specialist, Juliana Evens (Godoi), was recently named the 2018 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Club 13s Coach of the Year.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Former Mizzou Volleyball libero/defensive specialist, Juliana Evens (Godoi), was recently named the 2018 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Club 13s Coach of the Year.

The AVCA Club Awards program is in its third year and recognizes 10 deserving coaches in the youth/club volleyball community. For this year's complete winners, visit AVCA.org.

Evens has led the 13s team for the WAVE Volleyball Club in San Diego, California. Her squad ended the 2017-18 campaign with a superb 55-14 overall record, highlighted by four top-3 finishes at tournaments across the country. The team's top feat occurred at the USAV Junior National Championships in Detroit, Michigan, as they placed third overall amongst elite competition.

Evens first competed under Wayne Kreklow and Susan Kreklow at Columbia College, highlighted by a perfect 40-0 record and NAIA National Championship in 1999. Two years later, she transferred to Mizzou and once again was reunited with the Kreklow's.

As a valuable back row defender from 2002-03, Evens and the Tigers made back to back NCAA Tournament appearances and totaled 45 wins over the two-year stretch. Individually, the Sao Paulo, Brazil, native earned 2003 Big 12 Defensive Specialist of the Year honors following a standout senior campaign.

Following her collegiate career, Evens shined professionally with AVP Beach Volleyball. She consistently placed top-20 in major events, including a victory at the 2009 U.S. Open of Beach Volleyball.
